Day 22 - June 20 - Maple Creek to Swift Current - 139 km - (T=1630 km)

La définition d'une journée parfaite quand on fait du cyclo-touring: vent de dos, température fraiche et pas de pluie. Nous avons eu exactement cela aujourd'hui et ça été une journée très agréable.

Nous avons laissé le camping de Maple Creek avec Kevin et Farha et nous avons fait une journée  record de 139 km. Le plus impressionnant aujourd'hui, c'est Farha, qui allait à la même vitesse que nous malgré que c'est elle qui à la charge la plus lourde.

Notre premier arrêt, vers 9h, à une station d'essence, après 50 km, nous avons pris un breuvage. Il faisait froid avec le vent quand on est arrêté, alors on est resté à l'intérieur un petit bout de temps. Par après, nous sommes arrêté à Gull Lake, à un restaurant, pour déjeuner. Nous avions complété 80 km et il était 10:30h.  (nous sommes parti vers 6:30h ce matin). Ce déjeuner nous à donné l'énergie pour compléter le 60 km de reste pour atteindre Swift Current.

Nous campons pour une 2e journée de suite. Mais cette fois, la température est parfaite. Au bureau du camping, Bobi nous a donné une bonne nouvelle: le camping est gratuit pour les cyclistes. En plus c'est un très beau terrain de camping, avec l'internet partout et près d'un Walmart, où on va marcher pour souper et faire une épicerie.

The definition of a perfect day when you are touring: tail wind, cool weather and no rain. We got exactly that today and what an enjoyable day.

We left Maple Creek campground with Kevin and Farha and we did a record day of 139 km.  The most impressive, was Farha, since she carries the heaviest load, and she was following us.

We made our first stop near 9h at a gas station, after 50 km, and had something to drink. It was so cold with the wind, when you are stopped, that we stayed inside for the break. We later stopped at a restaurant in Gull Lake, after 80 km and it was 10:30h. We had a big breakfast to gives the energy for the last 60 km to reach our final destination in Swift Current.

We are camping for a second night in a row but this time it will be a better weather than yesterday. When we entered the office, Bobi gave us a good news: camping is free for cyclists. We are in a very nice campground, with internet everywhere, and a Walmart nearby, where we will have supper and do a grocery.
