Iron River - Where everybody knows you by name
We started the day by walking to the water falls again, then later taking a small hike with Molly and Rich to see some trails near their home. Duluth has 70 km of cross country ski trails in the winter and many bike trails in the summer. From Duluth, to go east, you go toward the town of Superior in the state of Wisconsin. There are two bridges to get there, but only one allows bicycles and it is closed for construction. (you can also do a long detour around town). So we needed to be taxied out of town and Rich had said he would do it.
When their friend, that we met at the camp, Lane and Nancy, found out about the new addition in the family, they offered to host us if we wanted to take a day off in Duluth and they would bring us across the bridge. Since the weather was good, we declined the first offer but accepted the lift across the bridge. This was really nice of them. Thank you Lane for helping us.
We had originally planned to go to Ashland, about 120 km away, but with a later start (10h) and the warm weather, we decided to stop in Iron River, after 80 km and around 3h PM.
