Keremeos, is the place where we have to make a decision on the route to follow. There are two choices. According to the book 'Canada by Bicycle', and our friend Crispin, we should go by route 3A, going by Penticton, Kelowna, Revelstoke, Golden, Banff, Calgary and Medicine Hat. But instead we decided to go with Charles' original plan, and take route #3 (Crowsnest Trail). This route goes by Cranbrook, Fernie, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. We will be riding closer to the USA border. This decision was made after speaking with local people. They said there would be much less trafic. And we had already visited Banff and Calgary many years ago.
We are presently in a heat wave. The temperature was 17C at 6H AM and after our lunch at 13H it was 38C. This was way too hot to continue riding, mainly that the next 20 km will be going uphill.
We were lucky to find a small hotel, near a beach. And as hard to believe as it is, this is the cheapest so far, and it even has a kitchenette. At suppertime, around 5:30h the weather is still 32C.
The view is still great today. We are farther from the river, but we are near vinery all day. This region is known as the capital of organic grown food in Canada, even in the wine production.
Osoyoos, is a nice tourist town, and a place for the 'snow birds' of the prairies. They get less than 3 inches of snow each winter, and the temperature is rarely below freezing. This is another nice town!!
Crowsnest pass is an amazing ride!
