the cool morning temp. helped us stay un shape
finally Christina Lake....it's 38C now
Lakeview Motel - Christina Lake ... a stop we recommend!
Connie even greeted us outside, with a smile
nice market near hotel
nice kitchen to prepare supper
our own kitchen table, and a meal better than at the restaurant!
We continued our route on Crowsnest Trail, going by Midway and Greenwood, where we had a good breakfast at a local café. The plans were to stop at Grand Forks, after 68 km, but since we started very early, 5:45h AM, and it was just noon, we decided to continue to the next village, Christina Lake, 20 km away, even with the extreme temperature. We just had to stop more often to hydrate. Our treat for that was a hotel instead of camping.
We started with a climb of 40km, so we were happy that it was 12C at departure. since it was already quite warm at 9h. It was 38C when we reached the hotel, at 13:45h. We got a nice room with kitchenette. There are restaurants nearby, ice cream across the street and a nice market a few steps away. We chose that last one and were able to make a great supper. We even got something good for breakfast.
We should get to bed early tonight, to get another early start tomorrow, since it will be very warm again and there is another 40km climb to do. It is still 33C at 5h PM! We chose a hotel, because last evening, in the tent or outside, Charles was sweating extremely. We are not used to that kind of heat at home. It is still quite unusual for this region at this time of year.
By the way, Charles did the english portion of the blog yesterday, so it wasn't an exact traduction. Marthe was commenting that Charles is quite strong to haul a trailer with a load of 40 pounds, on top of the 20 pounds on his bike!!!
