On était fier d'arriver à l'hôtel a 4h PM.

We only started our traveling at 7:30h AM. The hotel was including a hot breakfast, with the room but it started serving only at 7h. The weather was already 17C at departure. For the first 44 km from Castlegar to Nelson, we were following the Kootenay River, where there was lots of falls and hydro electric generating dams. We were lucky to have spoken to Laurie yesterday. She told us to take Corra Linn road for a small detour on a nice road without traffic, but which cut a big hill, just a bit before Nelson.
Nelson is another very nice village in this region. And we were lucky to have found a super place for lunch. We took a left turn, because we had seen an A&W, but near it there was the Railway Station Specialty Meats and Deli. That was a 5 star meal!!
Then we were heading for Balfour, the nicest 33 km of riding so far. We were on a road without big trucks, following the Kootenay Lake, with views of nice lots and nice homes.
At Balfour there is a ferry to go across the lake. It is 9 km long and takes 35 minutes. It is also the longest free ferry in the world. However we had to wait 90 minutes before it arrived.
The only negative part of the day, was the 7 km to get to our hotel in Crawford Bay. It was a very long and steep 2 km up right from unloading the ferry with a temperature of 32C. We drank lots of water. Easy to understand, we were very glad to arrive, it was 4h PM. We then made supper outside, like if camping.
