La distance entre l'hotel et Wood Islands n'était que 56 km et il y avait un traversier qui partait à 9:30h, mais avec le vent de face et toutes les grosses buttes, je n'y suis arrivé qu'à 9:45h, alors il a fallu attendre pour le prochain traversier de 11:15h. Il était 13:00h lorsque nous avons débarqué à Caribou, N.É.
En après-midi, j'ai encore eu de forts vents de face et des grosses buttes ('rolling hills'). La distance parcourue aujourd'hui, n'est pas la plus grande de ce voyage, mais c'était quand même une journée difficile. -141 km de vent de face + 37 km sur le traversier (75 minutes) + 1 & 1/2 heures de temps d'attente + arriver à l'hotel à 5:30h PM = une très longue journée - Il faut dire que je m'attendais aux grosses buttes en Nouvelle Écosse, mais que cela m'a vraiment surpris à l'Ile du Prince Édouard.
C'était le fun d'avoir Marthe qui est arrêté à plusieurs reprise le long du chemin, avec une glacière pleine de breuvages froids ainsi que des collations. Ce fut une journée difficile, mais il n'a pas mouillé et il ne faisait pas trop chaud. J'étais aussi content lorsque Marthe m'a dit le nombre exacte de kilomètres de reste jusqu'à l'hotel qu'elle avait réservé.
Marthe a fait le même parcourt en voiture et n'a aucun regret de sa décision. Elle s'amuse même beaucoup et se repose.

The hotel last night included a hot breakfast that started at 6:30h. Since we are retired and have lots of time, I told my wife we would take advantage of the free meal. It was a good breakfast and I was on the road shortly after 7h.
The distance between the hotel and Wood Island was only 56 km and there was a ferry leaving at 9:30, but with the head wind and all the big hills, I did not get there until 9:45h, so we ended up having to wait for the next ferry at 11:15h. Then we were on the boat until 1:00h PM, when we reached Caribou, NS.
In the afternoon, again, I got strong head wind and big rolling hills. The total of the day may not be my highest distance of this trip, but it was a very big day. -141 km of head wind + 37 km on the ferry (75 minutes) + 1 & 1/2 hour of waiting time + arriving at the hotel at 5:30h PM = a very long day-. I'll have to say that rolling hills is something I was expecting in Nova Scotia, but it really surprised me in Prince Edouard Island.
It was nice to have Marthe stop by a couple of time with a cooler in the car, full of cold drinks and also lots of stuff to eat. Today was a hard day, but it was dry and not too hot. It was also nice to know, at one point, when she told me exactly how many kilometres I had left to reach the motel she had found.
Marthe did this route by car and she has no regrets. She is actually enjoying it, and relaxing.
